Beer's to You!

I came across this saying recently and knew it would be perfect for my dad!  It was the inspiration for this Father's Day card.

The  mug of beer is from Smiley Cards.  I ran the foam through the D'Vine Swirls Cuttlebug folder.  The sentiment was printed from my computer.

This card will be entered in the following challenges:
Jo's Scrap Shack #54--I love you Dad
Fantabulous Cricut #214--Celebrate Dad
Cute Card Thursday #325--So Macho
More Than Favors #91--Father's Day

Thanks a Latte

I was able to obtain a large number of free postcards with a turquoise and brown border.  They were the right size for cardmaking and I thought the colors would work well to go with some coffee themed stamps that I have.  I decided to crank out a large number of thank you cards to beef up my stash a little.  Since I was going to be making a large number of cards, I wanted a simple design.  I used the cup from Smiley Cards (hiding the face with my Gypsy) and added the steam from Graphically Speaking.  As soon as I had everything cut out, I immediately wished I had done the colors the other way around, making the cup turquoise and the saucer brown.  That way I could have stamped "Thanks a latte" on the cup.  I decided to just put both sentiments on the inside instead.

This card will be entered in the following challenges:
Jo's Scrap Shack--#44 Anything Goes
My Craft Spot--#131 Thank you card

Have a COOL birthday!

I needed birthday cards for my brother-in-law and my dad.  Man cards are always tricky, and I was flipping through all my Cricut handbooks with no inspiration when my husband walked in.  He was actually the one who chose the image I used, the snowman from Smiley Cards.  The sketch came from Die Cuttin' Divas.  I do have to confess a goof, though.  I cut out my images and shut my Gypsy off without saving.  Usually I make sure everything is good before doing that, but of course not this time.  As I went to put my snowmen together, I realized that I must have chosen the shadow image for the base.  His hat and other accessories are too small!  I didn't want to start over at this point though, so I just went with it, hoping it looks like I did that on purpose!  The oval is from A Child's Year (It was a tag, but I removed the little hole with my Gypsy).  I ran it through my Cuttlebug Snowflakes folder.  The little glittery snowflakes in the upper corners were leftover from my Christmas cards, so they are actually the center of the O from the word JOY from Create a Critter.

I always like punny sentiments, so I used my computer to print "Have a COOL birthday!" on the cardstock before I cut it for the card.

This card will be entered in the Die Cuttin' Divas sketch challenge mentioned above.

Have an EGGcellent birthday!

I have a friend who is a farmer.  She and I have exchanged cow themed cards for years.  I'm running out of cow puns though, and since she also has chickens (I buy my eggs from her) I decided to go with an egg themed card.  The sentiment inside says "Have an EGGcellent birthday!"

Again, please excuse the poor photography.  I had to use the camera on my laptop.

The tag is from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More.  The brown eggs are from Smiley Cards.  The cracked egg on the tag was cut freehand with scissors.

This card will be entered in the Skipping Stones Design's sketch challenge.

Cupcake CumpleaƱos

Wow!  I haven't posted in a long time!  My husband and I wanted to save on energy costs this summer and not turn on our AC, but that was keeping me out of my scrap room.  I finally broke down and turned it on a bit so I could get a birthday card done for my mother-in-law.

I made this gatefold card a little differently shaped by welding a scalloped rectangle to either side of a regular rectangle on my Gypsy.  That scalloped rectangle (from Accent Essentials) is the same shape I used in the center, as the base behind the cupcake.  The cupcake is from Smiley Cards, I just got rid of the face because I was afraid it was too small to cut out well.  I made some score lines on the wrapper and ran the cupcake top through the Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls folder.  I also decided to put a little bling on the icing so I could try out my new i-rock :)

This card will be entered in the following challenges:
Skipping Stones Design--sketch #86
Kimberli's Creations--100 follower giveaway challenge: use a cart you've barely used (Smiley Cards)  She is giving away a Preserves cart to one lucky follower!

Summer Sunshine

One of my coworkers lost her brother unexpectedly a few weeks ago.  We passed around a calendar signing up to bring a meal to her family.  Tomorrow is my turn.  I knew that in addition to a meal, I wanted to bring some cookies.  So, the blog hop and challenge at Baking up Crafts was perfect timing.  Actually, I had been planning on making chocolate chip cookies, but on the blog hop, I came across a recipe for easy lemon cookies on The Joyful Stamper's blog and decided to try those instead.  Of course, I had to taste test one first to make sure they were good enough to give away :)

Then, I wanted to make a card to cheer her up.  A smiling summer sun came to mind.  I used My Cut Search to search through the carts to find a good one.  (This site seems faster than using the Gypsy search, and I like that you can see the whole handbook page rather than just the keypad overlay.)  I used the sun from Smiley Cards.  His sunglasses are from EDPD.  The tags on the top of the card and the base of the pedestal are form Tags, Bags, Boxes and More.  The turquoise background was run through the D'Vine Swirls Cuttlebug folder and the white square was run through Spots and Dots.     I also used an Action Wobble for the first time.  I had signed up months ago for a free sample on Momo's blog and was saving them for the perfect occasion.  I thought it would add some extra cheer to this card.

This card will be entered in the following challenges:
Whimsical Wednesdays--Fun with color challenge #11--I used the required red and yellow and also pulled the colors turquoise and white from the provided photo.
Baking up Crafts--project involving baking and crafts
Cute Card Thursday #170--sketch challenge
More Than Favors CCCC #22--Tags, Bags, Boxes and More
Celebrate the Occasion #19--Celebrating Summer (must have a sun)

After posting this, I got an e-mail from the Joyful Stamper suggesting I link up my project to her Inspire Me Friday, so that perhaps I can inspire others to do something similar for someone in need.

A little banged up

I usually make my cards as the occasion arises, personalizing them for the recipient.  Today I decided to make a card for a couple of challenges, even though I don't have a recipient in mind yet.  This card is for the Skipping Stones Design sketch challenge #51.  The theme is based on the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #36  : a project having to do with being sick.  Technically, mine is for recovery of a physical injury, but since their design team featured a band-aid, I figured this fit in that category.

I cut the oval from Calligraphy Collection and ran it through the Cuttlebug Spots and Dots folder.  The car is from Smiley Cards.  (My Pink Stamper cut out one of each of the base images and offers a downloadable file, which really helped in figuring out the layering from that cart, since there is no handbook.)  I decided to put googly eyes on the car because the ones from the cart cut too tiny to even work with.  I crumpled the fender on the card and inked it a little.  The sentiment inside will read: "I hear you're a little banged up."
