Happy Mudders Day!

The idea for this card came from this pin I came across on Pinterest.  The sketch came from Die Cuttin' Divas.  The cow die cut is from the Create a Critter cartridge and the background was run through the Juli's Garden Cuttlebug folder.

Simple Mother's Day Card

For the first time in a long time, I'm not making this card the night before I need it!  This is largely due to a fun Facebook event I came across, NSD 2014.  There are lots of challenges, and I wanted to try to enter as many as I can, getting cards and projects done for several upcoming events.
For this card, I used the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder as the background.  The flowers are from the Locker Talk cartridge, but rather than cut out the ribbons that go with the image from paper, I recycled some ribbon from a Victoria's Secret shopping bag.  I cut out the yellow centers for the flowers using a regular old hole punch.

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day is tomorrow, so I finally got around to working on her card.  I decided to make an identical one for my sister.  This is her first Mother's Day and my mom and I secretly "helped" her babies make her a gift.  My dad took pictures of the process, and I'm going to include those in the card.

Anyway, here is my card:

The rose and the oval came from Quarter Note.  The oval was run through my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder.  The ribbon is recycled from a shopping bag handle.  I added some i-rock gems on the corners.  The stamp on the front is from the "Spring in Bloom" set from Sweet Cheeks Stamps.

Puff the Magic Dragon

My mom has always been a fan of Peter, Paul, and Mary, so when I saw that Peter Yarrow was coming to town in May, I knew what to get her for Mother's Day.  I e-mailed the woman in charge about getting tickets and mentioned that they were going to be for Mother's Day.  Imagine my surprise when she e-mailed back inviting us to meet Peter at a restaurant afterwards!

Ever since this came up, I've had the song Puff the Magic Dragon in my head and I wanted to make a card with Puff on it.  Unfortunately, there are not many dragons on the Cricut carts.  There is one on a Paper Dolls cart, but it has no layers.  I decided to use a dinosaur from Create a Critter and attempt to make him look dragon-like.  I cut out a bat from the Holiday Cakes cartridge and cut it in half to make wings.  I cut out some ears and a little spike for the tip of his tail by hand.  I think it worked pretty well, except I'm not completely happy with his face (which I used my Cricut markers on.)  I think she'll get the idea though :)  Because of the musical theme, I ran the white background through the Cuttlebug Allegro folder.  The sentiment was printed from my computer.

Mother's Day card, version 2

In a previous post, I mentioned that I had some left over cuts and wanted to try another, slightly different version of the Mother's Day card I made.  Now I've got one for my Mother-in-Law as well!

This time, I only used the flowers from Doodlecharms, with the Peachy Keen faces.  I added the sentiment at the bottom on a shape from Calligraphy Collection.  The purple rectangle was run through the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.

Mother's Day card

The butterfly on this card is from Indie Art and the flowers are from Doodlecharms.  The oval was actually a scrap from a project I did last night.  (I'm so proud of myself for finally using one of those extra die cuts I save!)  The purple rectangle was run through the Cuttlebug folder Swiss Dots.  The faces in the flowers are Peachy Keen PK-570.

If I were to make this card again, I would probably make the flowers smaller or put a bouquet of them in the center of the oval rather than the butterfly.  I always put extra shapes on my Gypsy mat when I make a project in case any of them don't cut well.  All of them did cut well this time, so I have extras and may try some of those other variations.
