Mother's Day card, version 2

In a previous post, I mentioned that I had some left over cuts and wanted to try another, slightly different version of the Mother's Day card I made.  Now I've got one for my Mother-in-Law as well!

This time, I only used the flowers from Doodlecharms, with the Peachy Keen faces.  I added the sentiment at the bottom on a shape from Calligraphy Collection.  The purple rectangle was run through the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.

This card will be entered in the following challenges:
Die Cuttin' Divas #12--Mother's Day
Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #57--Mom's the Word
Cricut Cardz Challenge #71--Mother's Day

First Communion

My nephew will be having his first communion in a couple of weeks and I had no idea what image to put on a card.  The sketch at Skipping Stones Design was perfect because it was nice and simple.  The cross on this card is from Indie Art.  The tag on the side of the card is actually half of an image that was cut from Calligraphy Collection.  The "hills" at the bottom of the card started as ovals from Graphically Speaking.  Then I trimmed them down to fit the design.  Each of the three "hills" at the bottom of the card was run through a different Cuttlebug folder.

Mother's Day card

The butterfly on this card is from Indie Art and the flowers are from Doodlecharms.  The oval was actually a scrap from a project I did last night.  (I'm so proud of myself for finally using one of those extra die cuts I save!)  The purple rectangle was run through the Cuttlebug folder Swiss Dots.  The faces in the flowers are Peachy Keen PK-570.

If I were to make this card again, I would probably make the flowers smaller or put a bouquet of them in the center of the oval rather than the butterfly.  I always put extra shapes on my Gypsy mat when I make a project in case any of them don't cut well.  All of them did cut well this time, so I have extras and may try some of those other variations.

This card will be entered in the following challenges:

Hippity Hoppity Easter's on its way!

I hadn't planned on making any Easter cards this weekend (It's really too late for that, since Easter's tomorrow!) but I came across lots of Easter challenges and got inspired.  I was reminded of one Easter when I lived at home and my sisters and I were getting old enough to not be excited to jump out of bed at the crack of dawn and go running to look for eggs and candy.  My mom got out an old record and blasted "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" to wake us up.  I made two of these cards, which I will probably save for my nieces for next Easter.

This card will be entered in the following challenges:
Peachy Keen sketch challenge #50 with a twist (metallic accents)--It may be a little tough to tell, but the pink (looks a little orangy in the picture) circle is glitter paper.  The flower is also glittery, and has a metal brad in the center.
Getting Cricky--music challenge
Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #56--bunny or chick
Paper Cutz Challenge #88--pink, green, blue, purple, white (like I said before, that circle behind the bunny looks a little orange in the picture, but it is really a dark pink)
My Time to Craft #137--Easter wishes
More Than Favors Wacky Wednesday #35--Easter theme

A Note of Thanks

My husband needed some thank you cards, and since he is a musician, "A note of thanks" was the perfect sentiment.  Nothing fancy on this card.  The background was run through the Allegro Cuttlebug folder.  The note is from Stretch Your Imagination.  It goes with the little chick on that cart.  I used the Real Dial Size function to make it bigger.  The music brad was a lucky find at Goodwill.

This card will be entered at Getting Cricky in the music challenge.

That's what little boys are made of!

I recently made a batch of baby girl cards and needed to make some boy cards to even things out.  The sketch at Skipping Stones Design had 3 panels in it, and that made me think of the Nursery Rhyme, "Snips and snails, and puppy dog tails, that's what little boys are made of."  It was easy enough to find a snail and a puppy (on Create a Critter), and since it is pretty hard to find a "snip,"  I went with an insect from Doodlecharms!

Happy Birthday to one Cool Chick!

My little sister's birthday is this week.  She is a fellow Cricut owner and scrapper, so I wanted to be sure to get a card made for her.  I didn't have a specific design in mind, but I was inspired by several challenge blogs.  Please forgive my worse-than-usual photography.  My husband is out of town with the camera and I had to use the camera on my laptop!

Front of the card:

Inside:

The chick is from Create a Critter.  His sunglasses are from Everyday Paper Dolls.  I used my Gypsy to remove the cutting lines for the lenses and to make them the right size for the chick.  The turquoise square behind the chick was run through my Happy Birthday Cuttlebug folder.  The words "to one" inside the card were printed on my printer.  "Cool chick" was cut from the Opposites Attract cartridge.  I like the way this card turned out, particularly the chick!  I may use a similar idea in the future with a sentiment like "Have a Cool Easter!"

This card will be entered in the following challenges:
You Had me at Craft--Gotta Have Friends Blog Hop and Linking Party
Flaunt it Fridays challenge #17--3 Birds on Parade.  They say if you don't have that cart, you can use a similar one.  I was inspired by their Design Team member C.C., who used Create a Critter.
